The Guardian 30 remote weapon station may have made its first appearance on an infantry fighting vehicle of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Photographs released by the 146th Separate Repair and Restoration Regiment show a Soviet-origin armored vehicle equipped with an unusual turret, which drew the attention of military experts and analysts.

The images suggest that the vehicle received a system similar to the Guardian 30, developed by the Spanish company Escribano Mechanical & Engineering. The equipment is armed with a 30 mm automatic cannon, coaxial machine guns and an advanced electro-optical sensor suite for observation and target engagement.

Although there is no official confirmation regarding the identity of the installed module, several visual elements observed in the photographs, such as the sighting system and armored protection, match the design of the Guardian 30. The configuration also differs significantly from the traditional turrets found on BMP-1 and BMP-2 armored vehicles.

The appearance of the vehicle comes after talks between Ukrainian authorities and the Spanish manufacturer to transfer part of the Guardian 30 production to Ukraine. If the project moves forward, the presence of the module could represent the first steps toward local manufacturing of the technology, strengthening the country’s industrial and military capabilities amid the conflict.
